This is the Skyfall CD of Movies. It contains various movies of different formats and software to view them. The formats included are REPLAY, ACE, FLI, MPEG and AVI.
<h2>The Movies</h2>

This CD ROM has five directories each of which contain different formats of movies. A breif introduction of these movies formats is now given.
<p>
<b>REPLAY</b> The Replay format is unique to Acorn machines indeed it was designed to give the best playback of moving video images possible on Acorn Machines. Often reffered to as ARMovies (Acorn Replay Movies), these are by far the highlight of this CD.

The movies are split into sub directories of various themes each containing a few movies. You will probably have !ARMOVIE already installed on your computer inside !Boot, so it should be a matter of just clicking to run them. We use <i>Moving Blocks</i> compression some older versions of !ARMOVIE may need upgrading to play this format. See the software directory.

<b>ACE</b> This format was developed by Ace Computing (now Dial Solutions) again exclusive to the Acorn range. It is best suited to computed generated animations (all ACE-LZW format).
<p>
<b>FLI</b> Like ACE movies FLI movies are suited best to computed generated animations. They are not produced by Acorn computers, but are instead imported from IBM-PCs. The playback quality is limited on Acorn machines.
<p>
<b>MPEG</b> These movies are imported from IBM-PCs. The MPEG format is capable of reducing the size of moives by a vast amount by using clever compresion techniques. The playback quality is limited on Acorn machines.

<b>AVI</b> These movies are also imported from IBM-PCs. We have only included six on this CD, those movies ending '_' do have sound, but to hear the sound you will need a commerical player, such as AVIplay from Warm Silence Software (email Robin.Watts@comlab.ox.ac.uk). The playback quality is limited on Acorn machines.
<h2>The Software</h2>

The software we've included to play the movies is either Public Domain/Freeware, or is copyright Acorn.
<p>
It's all pretty straight forward and easy to use, PlayAVI and PlayFLI respectively play AVI and FLI movies. !Projector plays ACE format movies. ARMovie contains a player and a player upgrade for REPLAY. The MPEG directory contain four different MPEG players, some may play to fast on your machine others to slow, we suggest to take your pick.
